ART STORY
I painted this back in 2008 and it is my very first oil painting and definitely my first portrait, too. It was a daunting task and to be honest I never knew I could pull it off when I signed up for the portrait painting class. I hadn't been painting or drawing for years, except for the other painting class a few months before which solely showed me I didn't know how to paint or what to paint - and that it was a rather stressful experience to paint in front of others.
Fortunately, I didn't give up and signed up for this class and my teacher taught me techniques, structure and patience, all very helpful tools in the painting process. That it all ended up feeling too constrained for me a lot of years later, is a completely other story. I just loved how I suddenly became absorbed by the process, the details and the thin or thick application of the paint, going with the flow and seeing slow, but great results.
As I recall it, the reference photo is picturing one of the first "supermodels", but unfortunately I haven't been able to find the image again. All I know is that I was intrigued by her.
